Good piece of software combining a number of construction specific features with accounts. We bought for its compatibility with our estimating software and althoughI am not an accountantI found it fairly easy to understand and navigate through. I joined Northcott Building Contractors in August 2007. My position is that of office manager. This company had recently transitioned from Sage to CIA software and as such had little knowledge of the system to pass onto me. Although I had experience in various software packages I had no previous experience in accounting software and as such felt like a complete novice. After using the system I can honestly say I have found it very user friendly and of great value to our business needs. I currently use the system for the following;

Payroll- recently completed the year end with 0 variances to report; I had no previous experience of payroll so am more than impressed!

CIS- The system works it all out for me and again very easy to populate information.

Sales and Purchase Invoices- Straightforward with excellent traceability.

Job Costing- Allocation of material and labour costs to specific jobs- this aids the accuracy of the customer invoices and with ease allows us to track profit margin per project/job.

WIP- Reports are easy to follow and allow us to track work in progress figures.

Bank- Reconciliation easy to use and any errors can be reversed with little issue

Nominal Codes- Easy to follow and add on

I especially appreciate the job cost section, allowing us to allocate material and labour costs to specific 'jobs' results in complete traceability and ensures our costs and the subsequent invoices are accurately apportioned to our customers. In our trade we have retentions on payment of sales invoices: 2.5% being released on completion of work and a further 2.5% after a 6 month period. With many jobs running simultaneously keeping track can become quite a task. Previously this was all tracked through manual entry to spreadsheets with high risk of error- now- CIA Software does this for me, there is a retention diary report that highlights the various customers, their retentions and when they are due for release.

The Sales and Purchase section are very straightforward, again with excellent traceability and it is easy to reverse if errors are made. Whilst on this subject of errors, I have found the support team to be invaluable! Friendly, quick to respond and very detailed in their feedback.

I have no hesitation in recommending this software and feel sure it would fit most businesses requirements with minimal transition problems, be it training, process or technical.

We went through several software providers from off the shelf, bespoke and construction industry specific - with varying degrees of success, usually fairly poor. However eventually we cameuponCLiP IT Solutions and I am very pleased to say that we have been and remain very satisfied with the quality of the package, the good value initial purchase cost and the reasonable annual license fee which has continued to keep us up to date. We have been using the CIA software for several years and have always found the system to cover everything we needed. 18 months ago we added the Tailorable fields, CRM, Document Generation, Calendar and Work Task options.

These modules have revolutionalised our Back Office systems, allowing us to improve the quality and speed of management information. We have been able to add fields to record exactly the information we want, and initialise systems that automatically prompt us when we should be contacting customers or if processes need to be chased up.

We have increased turnover by over 30% and are able to manage the company more effectively, with help from the extra information we now get. Even with this growth we have not needed to employ any more office staff, due to the increased efficiency with the new systems.

I would (and regularly do) strongly recommend the extra modules for the CIA software, I often wonder how we coped before implementing the new system.

The software is very user friendly and when starting out the Practice System is extremely useful. We were asked about our specific requirements so the training given covered those areas in more detail. As the system is so straight forward to use training was quick and surprisingly easy. I felt that this was clearly shown when I had to train other members of staff. No one had any difficulties and we were up and running in no time. However, if anything is forgotten the manual under the Help menu is also easy to use but failing this there is always someone on the end of the line to talk you through.

It is always comforting to get a person on the end of the phone when you call the support line rather than one of these automated message systems. This was an extremely big factor in us choosing CLiP IT over other companies. Any problems we have had have been dealt with immediately and efficiently causing minimal disruption to the running of our business. Everyone is always helpful and no problem is too small. Adjustments are made to improve CIA software throughout the year.

We are extremely happy with the software we use and feel that the service we receive is excellent, we would gladly recommend CLiP IT to others.

We have been using the CLiP IT CIA Software for all our accounting purposes since 2006 - before the big CIS change over, and we have found the package is ideal for all our needs. The whole package is simple to use with basic straight forward data entry together with the ability to obtain clear and meaningful reports as and when required ranging from a simple purchase ledger report to a fully detailed and itemized Trial Balance.

We are able to verify Subcontractors on line with the ability to send end of month CIS reports and end of year tax returns directly to the Inland Revenue in the same easy to use manner.
